Officers were attempted to make a motor vehicle stop at Bergen and Oxford avenues around 1:10 a.m., when one of the officers discharged his weapon, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said.
A vehicle was struck but no one was struck or injured, Suarez said.
The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office is investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident, including the motor vehicle stop and the officer’s discharge of his service weapon.
As is standard protocol, the New Jersey Attorney General’s Office has been notified of the incident and investigation.
